The 34th annual Chunnenuggee Fair, sponsored by the Bullock County Historical Society, will be held on April 27, 2013 in Union Springs, Alabama from 9am-3pm. The Fair will feature Fine Arts and Crafts, live entertainment in front of the historical Bullock County Courthouse, a Food Court, children’s area, and made-from-scratch cakes.

Fine Arts, featuring paintings, drawings and photography from local artists will be displayed in City Hall, and craft vendors will be stationed up and down North Prairie Street. Crafts will include jewelry, woodcarvings, hair bows, etc.

The Mike Watson Band, a blues band from Atlanta will headline the entertainment roster which also will include local recording artists Dylan Brabham, Chilly Cooks, Catfish Rhodes and Justin Smoker.

Montgomery, Ala. — The winners for the Alabama Black Belt Adventures Big Buck Photo Contest have been announced.

The organization, a public-private partnership that promotes outdoor recreation and tourism in Alabama’s Black Belt, sponsored a “big buck” photo contest for deer harvested in the 23-county region.

Winners have been chosen in three categories -- youth typical (up to 12 years old), youth typical (ages 13-18) and adult typical. Photos were posted on Facebook, and three finalists were determined for each category based on the highest number of “likes” received. Sports journalists then picked the winners.

The winners were:

Youth typical (up to 12 years old): Clark Bain of Carrollton. Other finalists in this category were Lyman Thomas Ramsey and Ethan Duncan.

Youth typical (ages 13-18): Danner Butler of Mobile. Other finalists in this category were Tanner Cox and Noah Hadley.

Bullock County residents Tracy Larkins and Jessie Penn will sponsor the puppet production I Like Me on today, August 11th at 4 p.m. at South Highland Middle School in Union Springs.

The ‘Back to School’ community service will help empower area youth with respect, esteem, confidence and the courage to be uniquely different! 

I Like Me, performed by Double Vision Puppet Productions, will feature original music and a high energy black light show filled with glowing people, props and puppets! Sign language interpretation is available.
